How designers get paid on Merchmapper
Clear terms, real numbers, no surprises.
Three ways to earn
How you get paid depends on how your product is fulfilled.
Already selling? List for free
Already selling place-based products through your own store, Etsy, Shopify, or elsewhere? List them on Merchmapper for free and keep 100% of your sales. We just help fans find you – we're not involved in the transaction.
Bounty designs
Win a listed bounty and get a cash reward, paid once your design is accepted (see individual bounty listings for reward amounts).
Bounty designs are fulfilled through Merchmapper, so they also earn ongoing 80% revenue share – win or not, every satisfactory submission gets published.
Revenue share designs
Submit any original design and have it fulfilled through Merchmapper's print partner – we handle listing, printing, and discovery. You earn 80% of the profit on every sale, for as long as it's live. No cap, no expiration.
The 80/20 split applies only to designs Merchmapper fulfills – including all bounty designs. If you fulfill and ship your own products, you keep 100% of the sale.
How payouts work
You submit a design
Bounty or original – either way, once it's accepted it goes live on the map.
It sells
Merchmapper handles listing, printing, and fulfillment through our print partner. You don't have to touch any of that.
You get paid via Stripe
Earnings are tracked automatically and paid out monthly once your balance hits $10. We use Stripe Connect for payouts (PayPal where Stripe isn't available).
What could you actually make?
Based on a typical shirt sale, where your 80% share works out to roughly $9 profit:
~$180
20 shirts sold
~$900
100 shirts sold
This $9/shirt figure is a typical estimate for illustration only. Actual profit per sale depends on the final product price and product type, and will vary.
Your designs stay live indefinitely – as long as you want them up, they keep earning. No expiration date. Remove them anytime you choose.
